A few years ago, I realized that I had to learn more about systemic racism. I started re-educating myself on race in America, and on the history of America as experienced by people who aren’t white. In doing so, I began to see that so many of our divisions (gender, religion, orientation, red state/blue state, age, class) all stem from the racial divide.
This website includes information that I found most helpful and straight forward, most objective and informative, and the intro “101” can be watched online in 5 hours.
My hope is that this information will help white people get a more accurate understanding of race and inequality in America; about how the things that disproportionately harm people of color ALSO harm us.
Please check out the “Homework” section if you’d like to go more in depth after viewing the videos in “101”. I will continue to update the site as I learn, and as the national dialogue evolves.
